Beach Activities that are Family-Friendly

Are you and your family coming to Destin Beach for your next vacation? We at Holiday Isle can tell you about some beach activities that are family-friendly. When staying with us in one of our Destin Beach vacation Rentals, you will be close to where the fun can happen. Let’s look below at some of the beach activities that are family-friendly.

Scavenger Hunt

Beach Activities that are Family-Friendly

Destin Beach is a wonderful place where you and your family can do a scavenger hunt together. Before leaving your vacation rental for the day, you will want to take a piece of paper and put together a list that the family can look for. Then it will be time to head to the beach and hunt for your treasure. The kids can look for different color shells, something blue, sea glass, driftwood and more. One the map, have a list of the items that they can find and mark them off as you find them. This is a fun activity to do and something that everyone in the family will love doing!

Look at that Sandcastle

One thing that many families have done in the past is build a sandcastle. But just because you aren’t a kid anymore, doesn’t mean that you as the parent have to stop building one. This is a great activity that anyone in the family can do while you are on vacation and is good for all ages. To help build their sandcastles you are going to make sure that everyone has a bucket, shovel and shells to build their dream sandcastle. Take a family picture of everyone’s castle and frame it when you get back home to remember that great day you had on your vacation.

Soccer Time

Beach Activities that are Family-Friendly

Playing soccer on the beach is one of the best games you can play as a family. Make sure that you bring a soccer ball with you on your vacation so that you can see who the best team is. Either split up into teams or kick the ball back and forth for a while just to get in some exercise. No matter who wins the game or who can play the longest, everyone in the family are winners!

Beach Ball Bounce

Another great game that the whole family can get in on, is beach ball bounce. You can play this game by having two players on each side while they are holding a beach towel. Then use the beach towel as your “racket” to catch and toss the beach ball back and forth to the other team. What a great way to get your exercise because we can promise you that the ball won’t go the way you want it to get each time. Just have fun and learn to work together on this activity!

There are several other activities that can be played on the beach, but these are just a few we wanted to share with you. If you haven’t booked your next family vacation to Destin Beach, now is the time to. School will be back soon, and we hope that you and your family can enjoy your vacation before the busy season begins.

Visit Crab Island on Your Next Vacation to Destin Beach

If you and your family are looking for something new to do or explore, then we highly recommend Crab Island. And if you happen to have a boat that you’d like to bring with you on your vacation to sail the Emerald Coast, then staying in a Boat Dock vacation rentals will have you close to the water. Destin Beach has so much to offer during the summer months that you won’t want to miss out on seeing what Crab Island is about. Let’s look at why you must visit below on your next vacation to Destin Beach.

All About Crab Island

Visit Crab Island on Your Next Vacation to Destin Beach

Many of the locals love to head to Crab Island during the year, but it’s more popular during the summer months. This island is a sandbar located just south of the Marier Bridge that is in Destin, Florida. It is well known to many who own a boat as it’s only accessible via a boat. If you pass over the bridge, then you may find hundreds of boats out there with their anchors in the water, just soaking up rays and having a good time. With the island being only minutes away from Destin Harbor, it’s definitely a must-visit on your next trip to the area.

Why is it called Crab Island?

For those who have never been to Crab Island, you will think there is an island here. But we can tell you that there is no land here. What was once a tiny island in the waters of Destin is now just a sandbar for many to visit. It’s called Crab Island because it was a small plot of land that used to be in a shape resembling a crab. You will also find many tiny crabs on the floor of the sandbar and it then can be easily seen as to why it’s called Crab Island. Besides seeing crabs in the water, you may get to see a few other sea life animals in the water with you such as dolphins and fish.

A Perfect Day on the Water

While Crab Island has to be one of the best-known secrets to Destin, it’s also one of the most popular spots for the locals for years. Like many of the lakes around the country that seem to be the best spot for everyone to hang out on their boats, this too is very popular for even the visitors to our area. Why not spend a day or two on the water with your family and friends and soak up the sun? If you don’t have a boat of your own, there are several boat rental places that you can rent from for a day or two. Think of the fun you and your family can have by floating on the water together and swimming.

How to Prepare for a Day at Crab Island

Visit Crab Island on Your Next Vacation to Destin Beach

Since Crab Island is very popular especially during the warmer months, we suggest that you arrive before noon. It will take you around 10-25 minutes to get to Crab Island from the Harbor. If you forgot something back in your vacation rental or even left it at home, then don’t worry because there are several mini-store that you will find on the water that sells everything in the sun from sunscreen to food. We do suggest bringing cash to the island and there may be some vendors who offer inflatables for you and the family to enjoy. If you are looking for something a little more exciting to try while out there, then don’t worry because there are normally paddle boards and jet skis that are available to rent on the water. Just go out and have fun with everyone on the water.

While there are so many other things that you and your family can enjoy on your vacation to Destin Beach, Crab Island is just one of the fun places you can visit. If you are still looking for a Destin vacation rental for your next vacation, then give us a call today. We can’t wait to see you and your family as you come and explore Crab Island this summer!

Bowling

When you vacation in Destin there happen to be two great options for bowling when it rains. Head over to either Hurricane Lanes or Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill for some family fun and perhaps a little competition between each other. At Hurricane Lanes they feature 26 bowling lanes, pool tables, an arcade, and free ping-pong. What more could a kid ask for when it comes to bowling and playing ping-pong?
